The International LT with the S13 Integrated Powertrain leads the on-highway aero category in fuel economy by at least 5%.*
Capable of up to 515 hp and 1,850 lb-ft of torque, the S13 Integrated consists of an engine, transmission and aftertreatment system designed together to maximize integration between systems while allowing each component to perform its function. The result is a new standard of efficiency, profitability and sustainability for our on-highway and off-highway customers.
Designed and developed from the ground up by a global dream team of engineers and proven over more than 4 million miles across a variety of terrains, the S13 Integrated is the last diesel powertrain we will ever produce—and, without question, our best.
*The International® LT® with S13® Integrated Powertrain was tested head-to-head using TMC Type IV testing methodology against competitive on-highway aero models with comparable specifications: Freightliner Cascadia AeroX DD15, Kenworth T680 MX13, Volvo VNL760 D13. Testing proved the International LT with S13 Integrated Powertrain to be at least 5% more fuel efficient than these models. The International LT with S13 Integrated Powertrain uses up to 3.5% more DEF per gallon of fuel compared to comparable on-highway aerodynamic models.
S13 Engine
- Clean burn combustion cycle
- Dual Overhead Cam Design for better, more efficient “Breathing”
- 23:1 Compression ratio that unleashes the full energy of the fuel providing optimal performance delivering industry leading fuel economy savings
- Produces minimal particulate matter (soot) under normal operation
- Cooled EGR eliminated—No EGR Cooler
- Lower Fuel Pump Pressures vs. A26 (1800 bar vs. 2500 bar) reducing parasitic loads
- Fixed Geometry Turbo - Less complex design than VGT using 100% of the exhaust
- Strong yet quiet Engine Compression Brake producing 470 braking HP
- Lightest 13L powertrain in North America
- Built to Traton Global Quality Standards

Dual Stage Aftertreatment
- Single most important reason behind industry leading fuel economy
- Allows engine to focus on being an engine
- Designed to maximize SCR performance utilizing 2 doses of DEF
- First DEF dose is right after the Turbo where exhaust temperature and NOx is at its highest, maximizing DEF effectiveness
- Second DEF dose is in the Aftertreatment system
- DPF Service Intervals extended due to less soot being produced by the engine
- 650k miles @ 8.2 mpg
- No Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) – No Fuel Dosing
- No Active Regenerations
- Easy access to DPF through passenger side facing panel

T14 Transmission
- Clean sheet approach designed to be an Automated Transmission for Performance, Drivability, & Productivity
- 14 Speed Transmission optimized for Direct Drive (13th)
- Overdrive (14th) available for flexibility when empty, lightweight, or higher speeds
- Integrated oil cooler combined with variable oil level system
- Single Countershaft design less weight less bearings and gears
- Wide Ratio set allows for improved startability even with fast axle ratios
- Electronic Clutch Actuator for smooth starts and confidence during lowspeed maneuvers - does not consume air
- Single and Dual PTO options available
